American trrops under Patton could have taken this city w several others bf the Soviets got there to murder and rape their former allies. But his Army was ordered not to. Patton was pissed and disgusted.

Patton was threatening to come back to the states and tell Americans that he was ordered to hold back and allow the Soviets to take so many cities. Patton never made it home.

I understand it took about 400,000 Soviet troops to capture Berlin. Wonder how accurate that figure is?

A terrible and awful war came to its naturally bitter and brisk conclusion. It never had to have begun in the first place if there hadn't been the rampant hyperinflation of post-World War II Weimar Germany. And the petty Treaty of Versailles. Just a set of dominoes. . .

Sie mussten einiges, besonders Erinnerungen, durch all das Chaos verschwinden und verschwimmen lassen, habe ich das Gefühl. Ich bin gespannt, was sie über Zeit herausgefunden hatten.
