Except that the US doesn't have many assets in China. But we do have the power to re-recognize Taiwan, which we should do. And if the Communist regime in China continues to misbehave, we might think about recognizing Tibet. And Hong Kong too. And Macau. And maybe a few others.

You cannot threaten retaliatory attacks when you are already attacking. Communist China is not our friend or ally. They do almost everything they can to undermine us and hurt us. The concern isn’t forcing China to retaliate, the concern is stopping what they are already doing.
