Can we agree that he had no idea how to get to an ending? I think he's frozen in indecision. he told HBO the ending and important steps and look how that turned out. Wonder if he's afraid to follow through now after that backlash.

He could have been a BOSS if he dunked his finished series on the table the day after the HBO series wrapped up. He could have said, “Now for the REAL story by an actual writer” and moonwalked out of the room. Nope. We get nothing.

Did he: lose motivation, or is he unable to tie it off into a neat conclusion? I quit reading the 3rd or 4th book

Too many moving parts in the story. Too many characters. Makes it hard to write in a coherent way. He literally has to ask people whom run the wiki for help on details...

And everyone would have to re-read the last book to remember where he left off. All I remember was that Jon Snow was still dead.

Oh ffs Jack, don't remind me about that! Winds of Winter is yet to come and this isn't even the last book, there's another one to come. And think about what happened to Biden when he got old. The same thing might happen to GRRM and he won't remember nothing.
