Jack, I worked for a few years on Johnston Atoll. I wouldn't have believed how destructive sea water and the ocean air can be to anything man-made, if I hadn't seen it for myself. The US doesn't have to do anything for them POSes to slide into the SCS at some point.

I worked on a project for the Air Force, and when our contract got converted to do the same stuff for the navy, we had to completely redo all our material analysis for long term holding in ocean environments. It’s *incredibly* destructive.

It would for sure be a shame but China would likely consider this an act of war and I don’t think that’s what we need right now.

It’s exactly what we need and it’s exactly where we are going. China is a stubborn partner to negotiate trade with.
