Dune fans are the Sci-Fi LOTR fans. Devotees of an epic book that many others don't get who really deserve a good treatment. I'm not saying it's the same, but I think of it as how I'd feel if instead of Jackson's LOTR we had first got the Hobbit as shot.

I say this because no Dune treatment has ever been as horrific as the Hobbit.

I agree completely. It's transparently Lawrence of Arabia in space, with Paul as Lawrence and the Fremen as the Arabs. Moderately entertaining, but not enough to read the sequels.
-
It's more than just that, not a sci-fi fan?

@markomalley My mind has its own rich images, memories and feelings from Dune. Any Movie Screen deviation from my delighted memory of being lost in Herbert's storytelling is UNWELCOME and UNCALLED for.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
