As somebody who grew up having fully digested the classic 1965 Frank Herbert novel, the 1984 Lynch movie was a profound disappointment. I can't imagine how bad a 2020 Hollyweird social justice warrior remake would be. Mr. Herbert has got to be rolling in his grave.

Loved the book, loved the movie but then again The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies.

The multi part TV series did a good take on it

In Denis Villeneuve I trust. Prisoners, Enemy, Arrival, Sicario, and Blade Runner 2049 are all tremendous films. I trust that level of talent with such a rich intellectual property as Dune.

David Lynch's Dune is the real deal.

Dune was one of the worst movie...ever! Hard pass on that one.

The book was far too big and far too dense to do in a single movie. The visuals on the movie were great, but the script was largely a collection of "sound bytes" from the book...that was my main criticism of it. It needs to be done in a movie trilogy IMHO.
