        There are loads of dialects in China. Standard Mandarin is from Northern China, specifically Beijing. It is taught to all school students but in the street or at home they will speak their local dialect.

        I was told by a Chinese man at my favorite noodle shop, that Fuzou dialect was actually the most common used here in the US. Is that true?

        I had a student, first gen Chinese American. Asked if his parents spoken Chinese, he said yes but not to each other. They spoke separate dialects.
