As a former sailor, all those sailors signed the dotted line that states, Country over Self. The Captain violated COMSEC/OPSEC end of story. The SECNAV had every right to be pissed at the defiance of Chain of Command.

Completely agree... the fact that his speech got leaked proves his point. But he is guilty of the same thing he accused the CO of doing... not expecting it to get out (naive) or knowing it would (stupid). Either way the Navy definitely needs a fresh start.

He was disciplined enough to relieve a Captain that was clearly loved by his crew bc said Captain broke protocol. From what I understand, recklessly sent an email instead of speaking face to face with his superior who was on the same ship. A true leader handles hard situations.
