no, he panicked. He was already on the way to guam, the admiral for the task force was already on his ship, his revealing to the world of the state of his sailors on board was revealing classified information on the fighting status of his ship. He should have been court martialed

Agree. He knows the protocol. What about the "social distancing" in that clip. Suspicious about when that footage was obtained.

No he is not. He put our whole country at risk by doing what he did. Everyone in the military from the bottom E-1 to the top knows there’s a chain of command, how it works, and why. To go outside of that chain, and worse yet, leaking things to the media, is very very dangerous

Sorry Jack. Not a hero. He put national security at risk when he authorized shore leave in Vietnam during the middle of a pandemic. The result of which was exposing the crew of the ship to the virus making them combat ineffective. Then on top of it, he let the world know.

He disobeyed orders. While it was the correct thing to do there are still repercussions for that. He wasnt imprisoned or dishonorably discharged which they could have done according to the UCMJ. Dont belittle his sacrifice, he knew what would happen and he knew it was worth it.

Didn't he send a letter to the press? Essentially announcing his ship was vulnerable? How does that help our national security?
