It depends on who violated not only the chain of command but OPSEC in this leak. if he didn't, then he needs to be publicly apologized to, if he did, well...you know better

He may have leaked to the media that his ship was vulnerable....and thus also to our enemies. This was not heroic at all, if true. He'll be lucky to avoid a court martial.

Writing the letter to command was ok. Seems like he was part of it getting out in the media. No way can you do that and still stay in command. The one carrier should never pulled into Thailand.

yeah... no he is not. A hero would have kept his mouth shut and went through some back channels for assistance. Basically he just alerted all enemies of the compromise.
