Many landlords are not rich. Some own just one piece of rental property. They use the rent they collect to supplement their social security- to purchase food. Pay the rent if you are able.

Good tenant would try to work with landlord. Some people are not good people - taking advantage. Others will do their best to meet their obligations. I guess people will show who they are

Are all of you completely unaware that indebted landlords sometimes burn their own properties down to collect the insurance money? It's called an "insurance job" colloquially by fire marshalls. It's why insurance companies hire investigators.
