Why will doctors and hospitals stay open when they will be paid 4cents on the dollar. Told to me by a practicing university hospital neurosurgeon.

Having some upfront knowledge of what your min and max bill might be would be nice; also who will bill you. Being able to choose a facility based on location, estimated cost, and quality rating isn't too much to ask, but those costs sure are hidden with lots of surprises.

Funny how most other countries have developed some alternatives to somewhat control healthcare costs but it's like the USA exists in a different universe where none of these could ever work....

Surprise Billings are you the worst and you wouldn't know how much BS it is until you found yourself on the wrong side of it. Not saying that the proposal these guys are presenting is the best way of resolving this, but something should be done.

Republicans better start coming up with some real and meaningful solutions or they are just paving the way for socialized medicine. Classic case of "if you don't solve it, someone else will".

What I want to know is why are medical costs determined by who’s paying for them rather than what they actually cost to provide? 10 people can go for the same exact procedure and end up with 10 different amounts submitted to their respective insurance companies. Why is this?

It’s because health insurance is just a big price fixing scam. I don’t pretend to know how to fix it... but it definitely needs fixing. If they bill me and my insurance $50 for an x-ray that’s how much they should bill everybody.
