I make a few hundred bucks a year using a credit card for all purchases and paying it off every month (on time). The key is not spending money you don’t have in the bank, not which type of card you use.

Yes exactly and those points can add up. We had a large purchase to make, had the cash but used CC and got 200 dollars credited towards bill

It's risky, but i use credit card and payoff every month down to zero for points. Pays for vacation every year.

seems less risky to do it this way, it's also what I do and get the extra benefits of the credit card like rental car insurance, an extra year of warranty on electronics and lots of other things.

But you do run the risk of not having the financial protections that are afforded through your credit card. Once you have to deal with an instance of someone using your card number for an unauthorized purchase you will understand how invaluable this is.
