This is an interesting thread on what people feel is correct vs what is true. I hadn’t ever thought about the strength of biblical wine, just assumed current standards were always the way it was. Logically, no reason that should be the case.

The sin is found in the human, not the alcohol though. They had no way to stop fermentation back then (and didn't want to) The "grape juice" started fermenting as soon as the grapes were crushed and continued until the sugars were gone. Thus, new wine bursts old wineskins.
