Good bc I didn’t actually say it was non-alcoholic And yes Scripture is quite clear on drunkennesshttps://twitter.com/MattWalshBlog/status/1229988529213714432 …

No, this is something that teetotalers made up. Has absolutely no basis in the biblical text or historical study. Wine in the time of Jesus was alcoholic, just as it is now. That’s why Scripture is full of references to people getting drunk on the stuff. https://twitter.com/JackPosobiec/status/1229984650812121088 …

Drunkenness is sinful. The use of wine in communion is not.

I feel like you think adults are not capable of enjoying a drink without drinking to excess.

Wine was not nearly as strong in those days. Less than light beer.

This is an interesting thread on what people feel is correct vs what is true. I hadn’t ever thought about the strength of biblical wine, just assumed current standards were always the way it was. Logically, no reason that should be the case.

The sin is found in the human, not the alcohol though. They had no way to stop fermentation back then (and didn't want to) The "grape juice" started fermenting as soon as the grapes were crushed and continued until the sugars were gone. Thus, new wine bursts old wineskins.
