When I was deployed to Iraq with SOCOM Civil Affairs we would remove name tags and unit affiliation and leave only our rank when doing co-op missions with Special Forces or doing Intel and observation missions.

Same flying with the Navy. Our Name tags & patches on our flight suits were also velcro attached so we could toss them away if we needed to bail out or were within risk of capture. We kept our dog tags, but other stuff was either left behind or removable.

How prevalent is counterintelligence on Twitter? All these anonymous thread people w/ big Twitter followings (on both sides)- are they just trying to sell books? Or are any of them legitimate disinformation or distraction campaigns?
