Personally, I’ve never seen the need to put the different generations into categories. A person is the sum of their life experience.

That's true but at the same time you can't you group people into generations knowing that they likely have overlapping and shared experiences unique to the time period in which they were born? It's just very difficult to approximate where that exact cut-off is between the groups.
