Kentucky was also originally a part of Virginia. In 1792 Kentucky split from it and became the 15th state to join the Union.

c'mon Jack. You know that is not true. West Virginia seceded from Va back into the Union after Virginia seceded out. And even then there was some dissent. It helped the Union and hurt the Confederacy so the US (Union) govt sanctioned it. Not quite the same circumstances.
