It used to be worse.... I lived in Michigan, W side of the state, for my first 23 yrs. Luckily left before state took a turn when Jennifer Granholm was governor. She's the reason during the 2008 recession unemployment was 25%. Guess who hired her as financial adviser? Obama.

Exactly my thought. Grew up in the suburbs. Detroit was a hell hole. Moved out of state. Returned in 2018 and thought, "Wow! This place is really coming along!" I'm proud of the improvements and hopeful for more to come.

Grew up in Detroit. It had a huge diverse population. Was known as the "Paris" of the USA, back in the 1950's, with it's spectacular homes that the working class could afford. Terrible leadership, policies & corruption drove everyone out beginning in the late 1960's.
