These diplomats advocate for and guide US funds to these host countries which makes me think there must be a pay day for them that Trump has now disrupted.

I bet a lot of these diplomats end up retiring to the countries that hosted them and ended up receiving US taxpayer funds based upon the diplomat's advocacy. It would seem like an obvious quid pro quo.

If nothing else, its become clear to me that all of the State Department diplomats we pay think their job is to work for the country to which they are assigned. They seem to think we pay them to protect other countries from our elected leaders' policies.
