I live next to Camp Pendleton and speak to a lot of Marines. The only ones I meet that are gungho for more war are the young recruits who have not deployed.

There is a disconnect between the folks issuing the orders, and the folks getting shot at, blown up, and killed. Don’t send any member of the military into harm’s way unless you have a damn good reason, and intend to win. Otherwise, keep them in garrison, training.

And as they issue those orders, they should lead the way themselves or send in one of their own flesh and blood.

You can add me to that poll. We need a robust powerhouse of a country that protects its borders, intellectual property, and way of life - one that speaks softly and carries a big stick... not a modern reenactment of the Roman Empire before half of it split off at Byzantium.

Please, don't play the "Not all veterans" card and expect that to be a meaningful rebuttal. The fact is, wars are unpopular these days. Anecdotally, 90% of the vets I served with are tired of being the world's police. We are tired of the wars.
