I've always had a credit card and always paid off the balance each month. I enjoy the 1%, 2%, or 5% cash back bonuses on stuff I purchase. That can add up and it's money you're leaving on the table. But to each their own...

Plus the added protection if there's a problem with a purchase. They're got lawyers to handle disputes that are a lot better than you speaking to a store manager. Also makes online purchases easy. Just pay it off every month.

My credit card gives cash back and provides travel miles. I pay the balance in full every month.

We use ours for everything we can and pay it off every 2 weeks. So far this year we have received about $2500 in gift cards. Beat em at their own game.
