Forgiveness is for ourselves not for the other person. They will still have to answer to God one day.

Forgiveness is the power to set a broken and destroyed prisoner free. It’s not until you forgive that you realize, the prisoner was you. Disciples of Christ understand, but it isn’t something the world at large gets. It’s unnatural...it’s supernatural.

I remember the story of a woman who was on death row and converted to Christ. There were some pastors who quietly tried to rally for her release. The woman on death row said she was at peace with the verdict and said her punishment should go forward.

Forgiveness is not easily given by many but it truly is for our good more than for the forgiven. Forgive and turn it over to the Lord. “Let go and let God” as it’s said. Forgive them repeatedly if needed. We’re not God. We may need to forgive more than once.

God has everlasting and encompassing forgiveness. I might be made in his image. But I've not his capacity. I shan't forgive evil, even if I forgive the man.
