Supporting the troops also means supporting military families and it's been proven increased deployments lead to an increase in the military divorce rate. Everyone in the military community knows stories like these but it's rarely discussed openly

Supporting the troops also means supporting them at home. The suicide rate among soldiers is unacceptable, as is the way the VA treats them. Neocons don't care about that, though.

There are a few things that contribute overall. Overseas stations (inc. Hawaii and Alaska) alienate military families from their home support system (too expensive to travel back and forth). (1)

Nondeployable stations see a higher divorce rate since they have to suddenly live in close quarters again and realize all their “problems” are still around, even though they aren’t facing deployment. (2)

If military spouses aren’t strong enough to be faithful to their soldiers, how could we ever expect to win a war? A soldier whose mind is distracted by worries about losing a spouse isn’t present on the battlefield. I assure you this isn’t an issue for Chinese soldiers.

Our sister boat entered port first after deployment, very few people on the pier despite ours being packed. Many of the wives were in jail for prostitution.

Supporting the troops means not using them for unconstitutional, illegal and immoral wars. (That means you, Trump. You own the #EndlessWars now.)
