Real. My son jumped started a couple of classmate's cars with dead batteries and changed a tire for another classmate . Those simple actions, doable by 95% of my classmates in the 80's in High School, got him labeled a "car guy."

Exactly. If you can change oil they will hail you as a master mechanic too.

My sons and daughters are very well equipped for self reliance. I'd say those are dempendents.

I'm no millennial but in the 90's my dad added a 1,200 sq ft addition on our house 2nd story. My older brother & I (teens) had to do everything except roofing. We hired a plumber to get the final inspection was told outright no approval w/o, but we did 90% of that. Had a BLAST!!

I once had to help a coworker pop his clutch by pushing his car. After I got him up to speed I said to do it now. As I watched him, he was holding the clutch down and turning the key to try start it.

Lots of people in apartments these days; hence little or no tools. Ive met millenials that cant change a tire so I believe it.
