Exactly. Think about how we have been taught and surrounded by this idea of materialism and consumption on purpose. I was thinking about this the other day. Meaning ,whose values have been pushed to the forefront of American culture and the world.

They're not defining human progress. They' re using a time cost metric to quantify lifestyle. I consider it progress when former luxuries (TV, air conditioning, refrigerator, clothes washer, even indoor plumbing) are now common.

Because the quick devaluation of TVs, electronics doesn't keep up as an accurate indicator. Not even as a benchmark. 1970 was maybe the last time it mattered.
