Crowds in Philadelphia burned British flags after the Declaration was signed and the revolutionaries declared war on England In this context, flag-burning was an act of violent rebellion, not simply political criticism

So what happens when a dirty hippie does it today? Is that also an act of war? I'm sorry but being triggered by an action that hurts no one but people's feelings is not something I want the government to act on. The ideas that made the U.S great were ones of limited gov.

It's about intention. It is usually intended as an act of war and accompanied by speech consistent to that. What's wrong with just saying I'm ashamed to be American or I have no respect for America? Protecting the flag protects sovereignty. It cements it into something material

A way to make flag burning not a 1A issue is to forbid the manufacture and import of flammable flags

Context is the key word here.

Great point. 🇺🇸 I often wonder what those folks back then would think of their descendants & new(er) American citizens today driving around the greater Del Valley w/ British Flag stickers and/or plates on their cars (you see this here constantly).

Should we go as far adding an amendment that makes removal of a foreign flag flown on US soil much easier? Such as allowing for Sheriff’s and Police Departments to remove foreign flags being flown with no questions asked? Or too messy? Make flags serious business again

People who gather together to burn their own property is violent rebellion in what world? Declaring independence is rebellion, that's inarguable. There's zero context to call this violent rebellion, even in imagination land.

These false equivalents from Poso and the rest of the MAGA officialdom is rather tiresome.
