You mean all those Law and Order episodes taught me nothing? How many times did they stand around with their hands tied WAITING FOR THE WARRANT?

"a search or seizure carried out on a suspect's premises without a warrant is per se unreasonable, unless the police can show that it falls within one of a carefully defined set of exceptions." Coolidge v. New Hampshire, 403 U.S. 443, 474 (1971)

This is common practice by federal agencies. I’ve seen the DEA, FBI, and Secret Service do this many times.

It might be common for the agency to do it, but it shouldn't be okay for the judge to allow it and retroactively let a warrant stand and throw the 4th amendment
