I am sure they are, but for me and the people I knew in the military for 11 years, (and for you too, I assume) we all had extremely positive life-changing experiences. I find the ratio of negative responses a little hard to understand.

I think one big point is why are American lives being maimed/killed for people who generally hate us when we can't protect our own country from invasion?

The replies are real.. I proudly served and I would do it again if I could. Cherished memories and life long bonds formed. However, being female in the military in the 80-90's, most I know share similar stories of sex har/assault by senior ranking sailors. Sad, but true.

Ratio of negatives seems a little abnormal but maybe people are just venting. I am active duty with 16 years. 2 tours to Iraq, 1 to Afghanistan also served as Drill Instructor. Seen plenty bad but also have seen more change for the better including myself.
