Splitting up AT&T led to the revolution in long distance, cellular technology and the growth of the internet. But some saw it as the end of capitalism. And AT&T wasn't allowed to throw people off the phone system like Facebook is.

As has been said elsewhere: the likes of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have become part of everyday life. They intwined themselves and then set forth these new “rules”. They control the public discourse. We need an online bill of rights to protect speech and press.

AT&T screamed murder publicly privately they were happy to lose ball and chain mom & pop phone companies from the corp P&L. Roosevelt was a Republican he was never a conservative.
