I don’t care about literal definitions. If someone says “pass me a sandwich” when they are referring to a hamburger or hot dog they need to be removed from society.

Beef Wellington....by that definition it's a sandwich

The definition they use would not include a Hot Pocket, “two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between.” A hot pocket is wrapped in the dough and baked, much like a calzone.

For a hot dog to be a sandwich it needs to be between two slices of bread. A burger can be defined as a sandwich because the loaf/roll is sliced in two. But a hot dog bun is not. Nor can it be while maintaining the topology of a hot dog.

A hot dog is a taco.
