A tax refund isn’t a present from Uncle Sam. You just gave a zero-interest loan to the government!

90% of Americas were never taught how to handle money. That's why we are working poor and the rest are wealthy off our purchases and interest. The elites keep America dumb when it comes to money. Teaching smart money matters to our school kids is a big no no.

The teacher's unions are 100% lefty dems and if they teach kids how to handle money or simply balance a checkbook for that matter it translates into not needing the system to support them. It's counterproductive to their ideology.

I gave up trying to explain this to people years ago...all they can see is a fat check once a year. They simply CANNOT wrap their minds around the concept of having/using that money DURING the year and to do otherwise is nothing short of handing a zero-interest loan to the govt.

Amazing how many people think a tax refund is a good thing. People don't realize that getting a refund means you have Uncle Sam an interest free loan for a whole year.

With depositary interest rates and inflation generally low at this time, such lessons are less obvious now than they had been in my own youth of high rates and high inflation.

Always amazes me how many see this as a “savings plan” or a “windfall”. #innumerate
