After spending two whole movies building up the new big bad Snoke, they threw the baby out with the bathwater and killed him off halfway through the film

So now, they are left with the monumental task of both picking up the pieces and trying to finish all of Star Wars in one movie. There is no conceivable way this will end well

Stanboys will love whatever Star Wars puts out, but this film is also an appeal to the wider audience at a time Star Wars desperately needs it

The financial failure of Solo was due to bad promos and the trainwreck of Last Jedi, plus general fatigue. These Disney movies aren’t “must-see” for the wide audience the way MCU has become

We knew it would be a Charlie Foxtrot when Disney bought the franchise but no one knew it would be this much of a disaster both artistically and financially

People aren’t buying the merchandise like they used to, kids aren’t as into their parents movies as they are Avengers. And merchandise is where the profits are made. Disney is extremely overleveraged in this, especially with the new SW park opening

So, instead of an interesting original story, we are getting rehashed and recycled products from the 1970s in attempt to financially stabilize the leviathan

The bottom line? Star Wars movies will not be the profit engine for Disney they thought they would. A lot of this is also due to oversaturation of the market and increased competition for eyeballs They will keep making movies for the super fans, and they will do ok but thats it

literally all we wanted was more space adventure shenanigens with guys swinging from space chandeliers to beat the evil bad guy in space sword fights, with a dash of mysticism on top and maybe a villain so evil he can torture people with his mind. I could care less (1/2)

about what plot, i just want seedy space port bars, blaster fights, some basic life lessons about teamwork, cleverness, and refusal to bow down to evil. That's basic star wars, simple heroes journey stuff. (2/2)

Agreed. Star Trek did it right with “Star Trek XI: The Undiscovered Country.” There is a sense of completion with that franchise with that film — a last hurrah with the original crew.
