Does anyone seriously imagine that Trump would open up a can of worms at this juncture? By denying knowledge of Wikileaks it closed down that line of questioning before it got off the ground.

Completely agree with this. He knows that 1) he has alot of tough decisions to make and 2) he wants to keep his options open. Optics looked bad but they would have also looked bad if he made a strong commitment either way. Classic no win scenario.

Is it going to hurt Democrats for making 180 deg. on Assange? He used to be their darling standing for the freedom of the press.
