If you can be disciplined with credit cards they are no different than cash. But that is the rub, most people aren't disciplined and the instant gratification vs. Saving to pay cash makes it difficult.

It's not the consumerist mindset, it's the "Easy Money" we live on USD. The inflation of money makes consumers spend rather than save. That's why some of us are proponents of Bitcoin in lieu of The Federal Reserve. They continue to inflate + incentivize risk

Before the FED was created most debts were owned by private small banks or even wealthy individuals themselves, not big corporate banks, also people had a savings mentality, the FED changed all of that

Love money: Keep it. Hate money: Spend it. My friend loves money and has the curious combination of 2.4 million dollars and 2.4 teeth in his mouth. I doubt that's the right way to do it.

Yes! With a bit of discipline, using credit cards to pay your bills and receiving a percentage back can save you money. The discipline part involves paying the entire balance every month.
