No, that’s not true you dingbat. Asset seized during the forfeiture were and are used to relieve claims that the Treasury (that is; Manafort owed back taxes). They satisfied his DELINQUENT obligations to the Government, so yes Mueller turned a profit. /1

In the event that pre existing creditors had claims on that money (in the case of Manaforts Trump Tower, Credit Suisse was owed $3m), they had “senior claims”, meaning they got the money BEFORE THE GOVERNMENT. However; that was just $3m of Manaforts $40m total seized assets.
