        There’s thin Monroe Doctrine: US opposed to further European intervention in Western Hemisphere. Then there’s thick Monroe Doctrine: the western is a fiefdom of the US, it’s word is law. this second version was expressed by Richard Olney in the Venezuela crisis of 1895.
