Many neocons grifters who never served are now trying to say we came out too strong against Nathan Phillips for inflating his service Civilians can’t truly understand how stolen valor affects veterans Especially those who lost their buddies

There's another element of stolen valor that's unique to 'Nam vets. Besides dealing with all the horrors from any era of combat, they endured the worst kind of reception from their so-called countrymen. When a valor thief gloms on to THAT indignity, it's a particularly deep cut.

2/2 It was very UNCOOL to serve then so it is hard to believe a committed leftist like Phillips would volunteer. I was there.

Working in refrigerator repair is an honorable way to serve, but when someone like Frigidaire Phillips calls himself a Recon Ranger, that is stolen valor.

Don't forget the fact that it was the political Left in this country that treated Vietnam abhorrently for decades. The idea that they suddenly care about treating them with respect is ludicrous.

It's obvious! Born in 1955 means he was 18 in 1973. U.S. military draft ends Jan. 27, 1973. On the day in 1973, as the Vietnam War drew to a close, the Selective Service announced that there would be no further draft calls. 1/2

But the US involvement in the Vietnam War continued until 1975. Voluntary enlistees still were shipped over to Vietnam after the draft ended.
