I’ve heard a story of an essential employee who had just bought a house, though he knew he’d get back pay, he and his wife was worried they wouldn’t be able to pay their FIRST mortgage payment. But please, make it seem like it’s not a big deal, even if it’s necessary.

Was there a shutdown when Obama was in office? I remember being furloughed, but no shutdown. Also I did not get paid for those days missed (1 day every 2 weeks for 6 weeks).
