What it really says is the media corporations don't want to let new storytellers gain power by turning their IP into powerful properties. No potential opposition can be empowered by remaking Lion King, Robin Hood, etc.

It's not just Disney remaking old movies, look at the other motion picture producers rollout of remakes and even the reboots of decades old television programs. Hollywood operates in a bubble and there are no fresh ideas.

Remakes are much like sequels...never as good as the original and ppl lose interest FAST. Usually the remakes are BUTCHERED versions of classic films
