Thank you both for your service! I’ve missed holidays due to military deployments myself My question is - if we are going to break up American families and put lives in danger, shouldn’t we only do so when it’s absolutely essential for US national security?https://twitter.com/m_mlentz/status/1065958869774422016 …

As a wife of a retired military soldier...hubby was always gone during the Holidays. Even in the US there were "30-Day Field Problems" during this time of year. It's a given, and we deal with it. Service to our Country.

I don't see what the problem is for troops on the US border... The military can set up a makeshift family gathering event for Christmas in shifts, its not an active war zone so it shouldn't be a problem To have families visit close by to the borders.

Admirable question but training shouldn’t take breaks for holidays

That is an absolutely essential question, and apparently very difficult or dangerous to answer. I want to know what 17 years in Afghanistan has done for us, in exchange for all that American blood and treasure. Are we safer? Is Afghanistan better?

A key element to national security is readiness. We must be prepared.

Are factories breaking up families by runnng 24/7 through holidays and having risk of injury or death while on the job? Is it absolutely essential to national security that Oil Dry makes kitty litter or KRAFT makes cheese?
