Being fired or leaving a government job does not automatically revoke security clearance in many cases. The clearance system is separate. People in the IC generally move between jobs and are able to keep their clearance

As I recall, and my experience was limited to one DOD Branch, when you no longer held a position that required Top Secret, it was downgraded to the level that fit the job requirements. Leaving people who no longer work for the government with TS clearances is fool hardy.

All clearances should be revoked the second they no longer are in office. PERIOD

My husband underwent a DoD sec clearance...rigorous, time consuming and $$$$. OPM had outsourced the clearance process to contractor(s), which I heard became a problem. @M_F_McMahon
