So everyone was ok with stand up comedians saying this on stages all over the world in the early 00’s but now we are ok with ruining someone’s career for JOKES he made years ago? I’m just trying to understand.

A lot of people were “OK” with slavery once upon a time, so why would it be a problem now? Right?

I would say slavery is a human rights issue and off color jokes, which these clearly are, is subjective humor. Not really the same thing. Were they in bad taste.. yeah sure. Can a person change during the course of their career... sure, see it all the time.

I truly get your statement. I guess my question is simply - is there a point when a joke crosses a line and may show something about a person. If I constantly make racist jokes and then get accused of being a racist, should I be shocked? Honest question.

People have private thoughts and public thoughts, the fact he thought those were funny and made them public... suggests his private thought would be much darker.... a drug addict is a mental illness would you fire anyone with mental illness?

Mental illness are worse than thought. He could just go Rogue any time and claim to be part of him that he could not control. Thoughts can be changed. James did changed over the past years. He made an apology and decade ago and now again.

And he served his time and cleaned up his act and even had charges dropped years after it all happened. so what we’re just going to hold everyone’s mistakes against them for the rest of their lives?
