Yes. I've made this sort of thing clear to those who complain about internet speech, that pamphleteering is as old as the republic. Old broadsheets were essentially adverts; news a filler. 'Hot issues' came off the press to the street. E.g., abolitionists. Papers wouldn't touch.

As a matter of fact this is one of the 'raisons d'êtres' of old Post Office. It transmitted news and political pamphlets and as such was an important executive department.
