Every time I was there we just said UFG or Key Resolve but everyone publicly referring to “war games” - just another pointless gripe they are picking

We called them Field Training Exercises (FTX's), War games and names unprintable, but the only real difference was in size and scope.

My first one was Team Spirit way back in 1980. Was also there in 82-83 when the Russians shot down KAL007 during Team Spirit. They are nothing more than war games designed as a show of force where the SoKo & Allies ramp up and move toward the demarcation line.

And for those that are worried, these war games have been suspended many times since 1976, sometimes for several years in a row and typically when Congress was trying to negotiate with DPRK. Why? War games escalate tension on the peninsula.
