Greetings from Norway. Today you would pay 2 dollars for one Liter of gas, which amounts to $ 7,50 for a gallon, which is roughly 3,8 liters. Many Norwegians typically earn between $ 25 k and $ 50 k per year, but a THIRD of that money is paid back to the state as income tax.

In Sweden, 60% of the price at the pump is tax. Energy tax, carbon emission tax and on top of the price and these taxes we have the VAT.
