Today, I am grateful for my dog, Lucy. She has been on this rollercoaster with me for almost ten years. She helped me through depression and was there when I was struggling. Now she puts up with my busy schedule and waits patiently for me to come home. What are you grateful for?

Life is so empty without community. Find your people. Build them up. Back them up. Care for them. Fight for them. Share resources with them. Reflect with them. Hope with them. Be fierce for them. Be vulnerable to them. Love them. Life is bountiful in the communities we nurture.

If you would have told me at the age of 30 when I was in the closet, out of shape and planning my suicide. That if I would just transition. I would be living in Maine, managing a restaurant, running marathons and working on a Business Degree, I would have laughed at you.

Today, pay attention to your thoughts. Do you focus on the things you can control? Or are you the kind of person that gets upset when your coffee order is incorrect and you allow that to make your day negative?

"How much of a fist in the air would it be to just be obnoxiously wealthy as a gay black woman? And [how powerful] to be able to help other people do the same?" 2019 goal: channeling this energy. 🙌🏽

Maine is our home. Tomorrow we rise before the dawn — like the mist over the Sandy River — and seek adventure, with hope in our hearts and love in our souls for the brand new day. To all of you, and to the people of Maine, I say, welcome home. Thank you.

Transitioning was about being seen and embraced authentically. When I am not hiding anything, I am free, I can do anything. When people see me. I shine brighter. I wake up earlier. I try harder. I stay later. I am excited. I am happy. I am celebrating life.

While everyone was out partying last night, I gave my kitchen staff the night off, worked the busy shift alone, then went out till 3AM driving you guys home on the app. Some of you did not make my night easy. Hustle into the new year!💪🎉

In 2019 I plan to be more aggressive with my goals, drop all of my bad habits, focus on school and run my first Ultra Marathon.
