Hard to say - it depends on market/country - salaries. Everybody should have access to it.

If free service is all you can afford, then I guess people have no other choices than to give up their privacy or do it themselves.

I prefer to pay it in the price of the device. Get the device right and I'll use the OS.

Thanks. Not all companies can make hardware in such a scale that sustain operations -> no more SW support :(

this is more related to all software companies, than Jolla, but I guess subscription based business might work, IDK..

Does Debian have any of those things?

Don't think it has. I know it's free, and that means it's more like self-service. Does it work on small screens / mobile?
