While this does work, I believe it incentivizes watered down product/services with great marketing. Not ideal. A tool that's built to solve an actual problem will usually drive more value than a tool that was created because the opportunity presented itself.

- find an up and coming job title in the enterprise
- create curated content & build a community around this target persona
- become a trusted thought leader and let customers organically come to you

Stay for the tool

But building community-first enables founders to develop a deeper understanding of the problem(s) to be solved – and thus create a more elegant eventual solution.

This is more-or-less what I've done. I built up the network, have some content around it, and have clients organically coming to me. Plan for the future? Marketplace + tools. Who wants to invest??
