Most people’s political preferences are not rooted in specific policy preferences. They’re rooted in identitarian narratives about who the good guys are. Most people vote for the candidate that tells them the most flattering story
I don’t know. You can vote purely on policy and then be endlessly frustrated by the outcomes. Smartest thing is probably to treat politics as background noise and figure out other ways to have a positive impact on your own life and the world
