The thing about Hillary is she'll never stop being terrible. The cult of personality around her is such that good advice gets cut off long before it ever reaches the queen. Her massive power distance cost her the 2016 election.

I'm often reminded of the time during the 2016 campaign that Hillary sat down with the wrong interviewer because communication within the ranks was so utterly dysfunctional.https://www.businessinsider.com/hillary-clinton-brianna-keilar-cnn-interview-huma-abedin-2017-4 …

I think you’re mostly right, but how do you account for the testimony that she’s quite warm and approachable in smaller settings? People who’ve worked directly for her, seem to like her a lot

My guess would be those settings are staged and/or quite rare given regular day-to-day workflow. What do you think?

Honestly don’t know. But I generally think the failure of HRC’s campaign was the failure of the inner circle to connect with and excercise any control over her larger world of surrogates. She seems nice enough as a person. It’s all the journos carrying her water who are grating

I think that's compatible with what I'm saying, if I'm understanding you. The whole chain of communication was just bizarre. Maybe the problem is people like Huma acting as gatekeepers, and not HRC herself? IDK. But she doesn't seem to be learning.

Also occurrs to me that of recent Dem candidates, Obama had the least annoying surrogates and HRC and Bernie have the most. Warren’s surrogates are fine, mostly just very wonky. Might be a leading indicator

Interesting insight. As a 2016 Bernie supporter I've had lots of issues with Bernie surrogates. But I supported him only because Liz wasn't running yet.

There are Bernie supporters who like Bernie and there are Bernie supporters who insist that anyone who doesn’t like Bernie is either a corporate shill or suffering from bad class consciousness. I’ve no problems with the former
